Cross Lanes United Methodist Church is celebrating the season of Lent.  Thursday April 17th Maundy Thursday….with a meal and movie starting at  6 pm, Friday April 18 a Good Friday service at 7 pm, Saturday they Sanctuary is open for prayer at Stations of the Cross and Sunday April 20 Easter Sunday 10 am service   

 

Hymns, Harmonies and Hops 4-6 pm on the second Sunday of every month at Sam’s Uptown Café. Bill and Becky Kimmons are the song leaders.

Thursday April 24 from 11 am-2 pm Open interviews at the Kanawha Charleston Human Association.  Positions in animal care, admissions, adoptions, human office…you must be 18 years old be able to pass a drug screening and background check.

 

Friday April 25 a Spring Wine mixer at Capitol Market from 6-8 pm. “Flowers after Hours” is a chance to mix and mingle with Wine from the Wine Shop and heavy horsd’oeuvres. General admission is $40 and Food & Drink Admission is $75.

Sat April 26 the YWCA’s ninth annual RACE to END Racism a 5 K run and one mile walk. 9 am on Kanawha BLVD.

Sat April 26th at 8:30 am.  Scatter to Serve at First Presbyterian Church in Charleston. Meet at the dining room….work starts at 9:30 and your team is usually done by 1 pm.  Work includes dog walking and clearing trails at the Humane association, gardening at Habitat for Humanity, Manna Meal gardens and Hubbard hospice house, packing food boxes and cleaning apartments for Rea of Hope.

Sunday April 27th from 2-3:30 pm a YOGA hike at Kanawha State Forest. Meet at the State Forest gift shop (7500 Kanawha State Forest Drive) bring some water, bug spray and a yoga mat ….the hike is rated moderate. The Cost is $25. (Please do not bring DOGS, also Children under the age of 9 and pregnant people are not permitted to participate.)

Sat May 3 WomanSong presents their spring concert “Ireland Calls” 7 pm at Christ Church United Methodist. Tickets are $10 at the Door.

Sat May 3 Guns to Gardens…the 2nd annual event at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Charleston from 1-3 pm safely surrender any unwanted gun. The person surrendering the gun receives a gift certificate for $100, $150 or $200…information at 304 546 7087

Sat May 3 at Tyler Mountain Community Center the Kanawha Valley Coin Club will have their annual Coin show from 10 am-3 pm. No admission fee.

Sat May 17 the Elk City District will have a Block Party from noon- 6 pm.  Vendors, food trucks, local musicians and a kid’s area. Check out local small businesses…a Brewery, Distillery and Meadery. PODA will be in effect.

Sat May 17 SALT FEST is back at J.Q. Dickinson Salt Works (4797 Midland Dr. Charleston) 11 am-5 pm with vendors, live music and food trucks.  FREE to attend and family friendly.

May 31- June 1 the annual 2 Day FastivALL Capitol Street Art Fair. Capitol Street from Quarrier street to Lee Street with 60 local and regional artisan selling their wares, live music …and don’t miss the Children’s Art Fair with make and take activities, entertainments, library activities and more

EASTER EGG HUNTS/PICTURES

Sat/Sun 12-20 Cabela’s at Southridge will offer FREE photos with the Easter Bunny.

April the 4-19 the Easter Bunny will be on hand daily at Charleston Town Center to greet the public and be available for family photo opportunities.  At Center Court.

Friday April 18 in St. Albans a Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt at Coleman Baseball Park for ages 13-18. FREE event Bring your own flashlights…they’ll also have music, food vendors and prizes.

Sat April 19 from 10 am-noon the Town of Eleanor will host a free pancake breakfast and Easter egg hunt at the Eleanor Town Parks baseball field.

Sat April 19 starting at 11 am Valley Park in Hurricane will host a “Spring Eggstravaganza” Easter egg hunt. They’ll also have crafts, face painting, the Easter Bunny, vendors and a fudge making contest at the conference Center.

Sat April 19 from 11 am-1:30 pm St. Albans Parks and Rec will have an Easter egg hunt for children ages 3-12 at St. Albans City Park.

Sat April 19 the City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department will have their Magic Island Easter Egg Hunt.

Sat April 19 the City of Nitro will host an Easter Bunny Eggstravaganza Easter egg hunt at Nitro City Park from noon-1 pm.

Sat April 19 the City of South Charleston will have an Easter egg hunt for children ages 6 and younger at Joplin Park from 1-2 pm.
