The Weekend Update for March 20, 21, 22, 23


At the Clay Center:  BEAVERS (Wed-Sat. noon, 1 pm, 3 & 4 pm) (Sunday 1pm, 3 & 4 pm)

ARTWALK in Downtown Charleston Thursday Evening at 23 venues from 5 pm-8 pm.  Jeanne K will have her artwork on display at the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation on the 16thfloor for the Huntington Bank Building.

Friday Kanawha County schools will have a preschool round up from 11-am-6pm for Dunbar and South Charleston at the Edison Staff Development Center (157 2ndAve in South Charleston) from 11 am-6 pm.   For the George Washington Area at the India Center on corridor G from 11 am-6 pm on Friday March 21.

Fri at the University of Charleston near the Riverbank a Box-A-Thon to promote Homelessness Awareness from 6:30pm -8:00 am Saturday. Teams will decorate a cardboard box to stay in overnight…canned goods will be collected and donated to the Union Mission Food Bank. 

Fri & Sat. (7 pm) Sunday at 2 pm George Washing High Schools student theater Department presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” at the school.  Tickets are $12 for adults are $10 for students

Sat at Charleston town Center mall West Virginians who are interested in learning how to obtain health insurance thru the Affordable Care act can attend an enrollment event from 10 am-3 p m on the 3rdfloor of at the Bureau of Senior Services office. Sat from 1-3 pm WV Reads invites 150 participants, teams and librarians to a celebration in the Great Hall of the Culture Center at the State Capitol complex. Prize drawings, book signing, Marc Harshman, WV Poet Laureate, will be the master of ceremonies.  The WV state Museum will be open and available for tours free of charge.

Sat the St. Andrew Nursery School will have Basket Bingo with doors open at 5 pm and Bingo starting at 6 pm at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Pinch. (246 South Pinch Rd.) Early Bird Tickets are $20 or $25 at the Door.

Sat at Hurricane High school the Band will have Longaberger Basket B-I-N-G-O with doors open at 5 pm and games starting at 6 pm.  They’ll have themed baskets, prizes a 50/50 drawing. Admission is $20 for 20 games and $5 for a 5 pack of special games. Concessions available.

Sat.  Members, veterans, supporters, friends and families are invited to an American Legion 95thBirthday Party at the John Brawley Post #20 at 415 Dickinson Street in Charleston.  Cash Bar and registration at 5 pm.

 Sunday the Kanawha Trail Club will hike the Endless Wall near Lansing, WV. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph on the West Side at noon.  Regroup at New River Gorge visitor Center.  Hike is approx 4 miles on an easy trail with awesome views.  www.kanawhatrailclub.org
